Epos (2010)

Epos

The shelf Epos is made of solid wood and powder-coated metal elements. The design concept makes a multitude of combinations in the distance of the boards and their length possible. Epos works either as a singular element or as shelving wall in a straight line. The stability of the shelf enable it to be used as a freestanding room divider or as a traditional against-the-wall unit. The idea behind the design is to use timber wedges to fix the shelf together. The construction or deconstruction is based on a minimum of work and tools. To individualize Epos, you have the opportunity to attach different kind of boxes and surfaces to this system.

Tauber-Cabinet (2010)

Tauber-Cabinet

The idea behind the design of Tauber-Cabinet is based on the dealing with conventional coverings of ventilation shafts. Tauber-Cabinet is a symbiosis between a bench and a sideboard. The typical character of surfaces, covers and structures made of metal is rudimental of the design and the construction. The diagonal bends of the brass plate are important for the stability as well as the pattern. Space and furniture are melded together by the reflections on the brass surface. This contrasts to the the closed and industrial aspect of the metal casing.

Kate Chair (2007)

Kate Chair is a reinterpretation of a classical wing chair. By quoting the value perception and symbolism, the reinterpretation emphasises both its speciality and its features. It also grasps the wing chair by using innovative materials and new technologies.
Being a contrast between analogical stitching as well as cushions at the seat and the innovative 3D technology of knitting of the oversized chair-back, Kate Chair appears known and familiar, next to new and simultaneously not yet experienced.
The offering of different elastic and strong knitted areas as well as the resilient metal construction is important for the convenience. The user softly sinks in the front and is stabilised by the reverse of covering of the back chair.
The seating element and the pillows, which are different in size and colour, are made of new wool. They enable diverse seating positions. The upholstered seat shell is fixed to the metal construction such as a saddle by a leather belt.

bauma Innovation Award (2007)

The bauma Innovation Award of the German Construction Industry was awarded at the bauma, the global trade fair dedicated to construction machinery and materials, held in Munich.
The idea for the design of this award is based firstly on standard construction kits for model houses and machines, and secondly on the idea of transforming an object from 2D to 3D by folding it.
The prize consists of a 4 mm thick stainless steel plate, laser engraved with symbols of all five categories. Each of these is characterized by a typical representative for that group. The smooth surface of the relevant winning category distinguished it from the otherwise sandblasted appearance of the plate.
The design allows the winner to decide: should the prize be hung on the wall as a plate, or stood up on a desk by bending the V-grooves milled into the revers side?

GastRolle (2006)

The annual Frankfurt Book Fair is the largest of its kind in the world, with over 7000 exhibitors and 280000 visitors.
On the last day of the week-long book fair, the currant Guest of Honor will ceremonially hand over the GastRolle (Guest-Scroll) to the Guest of Honor for the following year.
The design is reminiscent of the archaic scrolls, with connotation of the annual rings of a trunk, containing information about, and in this case, representating the Guest of Honor. Over the years, the Guest-Scroll´s annual rings will create a collection of writing and a record of the Guests of Honor of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
